Moorea Lagoon Snorkeling Tour on a Floating Lounge

About This Experience
AKIVAI runs this lagoon snorkel on a large pontoon boat it sells as a floating lounge, with cushioned seating, shade and an upper deck that one reviewer says fits four people. You meet your local guide at AKIVAI's meeting point on Moorea for a safety briefing and a run-through of the gear: mask, snorkel, fins and a life jacket if you need one. Guides speak English and French.
The first stop is a shallow area known for stingrays and blacktip reef sharks, where you get in the water with the guide. Next is a coral garden with clear water and tropical fish to explore at your own pace, and more stops may be added depending on conditions. Between swims there are drinks and fresh fruit on board and views of Moorea's mountains. Reviewers also mention turtles and dolphins on some trips.
This is a lagoon trip, not a whale tour. Outside whale season, or on a day when you want a break from the open ocean, the rays, reef sharks and coral are the lagoon's main attractions. One lower review found the coral gardens unremarkable, and another guest noted that the rays were being fed at the stop, which made the sharks more agitated.
It suits people who want a comfortable, sociable boat and a shorter trip. The listing rules out non-swimmers, wheelchair users, people with limited mobility, people with epilepsy and anyone prone to seasickness, and it does not accept bachelor or bachelorette parties.
Prices start from $115 per person, with a 4.9 rating from 53 reviews. You can cancel up to 24 hours ahead for a full refund.

We had a great time swimming with manta rays and sharks. Our guide was great and very cheerful and funny and we got to try some fresh fruits.

Snorkeling and coral gardens nothing exceptional but it was a pleasant day out on the water and very comfortable. The close encounters with dolphins was what made our day memorable

The boat is exactly as pictured! Worth the space and comfort. It’s better than other boats and have the luxury of having the second floor for 4 people. It’s an amazing view from up there. I only wished that they offered fins and not just the googles, I liked that we got plenty of time to snorkel but I didn’t like that you wouldn’t be able to go much further because of the lack of fins. Some people brought their own equipment because the breathing tube was very rustic.
